New #Luxury Design Product Spotlight: Week of Jan. 26th

Weekly my inbox fills with notice of great new products being introduced to the market.  And as much as I'd like to devote space in our quarterly magazine theTwentySIX, there just isn't enough space.  The result?  Every week check this spot for the newest product introductions.  And if you'd like to see your product here... make sure to email me the press release and necessary photos.

This week's Luxury Design Product Spotlight is an ode to some of the many awesome electronic products introduced during this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

TWIN Wash System from LG Electronics

In an effort to economize the effort needed to complete one of the domestic's least favorite chores - laundry - LG has brought to market the TWIN Wash System, producing a compact washer hidden within a hide away pedestal and designed to work in tandem with a larger, full load washer above.  Enabling users to add a second washer to their laundry arsenal, TWIN Wash is an ideal solution for small, specialized laundry items requiring a gentler touch such as active wear or lingerie or can be used to take advantage of smaller loads when a larger load is not required.  Even more so, the addition of the second washer ensures that the user can cut down on overall wash time by having two loads run simultaneously.  The question is, is a compact dryer up next for LG?

As televisions have increased in size and functions enhanced to include such features as curved screens, they've become increasingly more difficult to "hide" in interior applications, especially where a true design aesthetic is concerned.  In an effort to bring a sculptural quality to an otherwise boring product, Samsung has introduced the first product from its collaboration with designer and founder at Fuseproject Yves Behar.  The 82 inch S9W TV builds on their newly introduced Tizen platform with a distinctive and sculptural architecture - a metallic cube and ultra thin screen. So far response to the Behar design is at both ends of the spectrum but personally D'Scoop would be product to exhibit this work of art in our offices.

Weak WiFi distribution can be the bane of the connected & active home.  Though many products exist to enhance WiFi existence they often require either precious real estate or even more precious power sources.  Sengled combines a small scale WiFi booster with an LED light source into a single component which installs into a standard screw in light socket allowing for enhanced WiFi capabilities anywhere a light fixture may be installed (even outside.. internet in the potting shed? Yes sir!).  The WiFi capabilities also allow the Singled Boost LED Lamp's dimming and on/off functions controlled by an app for smart phones/tablets. Coming Soon.

Safe & Smart Electrical Outlets from Brio

Little has changed in the last century since the detachable electrical plug was invented in 1904.  Aside from a modification of shape in the 30's and the addition of the grounded outlet later in the century, electrical outlets have done little else but provide a method of connecting power user to power source.  Brio aims to be the first to make a substantial change with the introduction of their Brio Safe Outlet and Brio Smart Outlet.  Designed with a number of functions including internal sensors which determine whether or not power is actually needed and whether objects inserted are actually plugs (great when little ones are in the home).  Their Smart outlet further connects to remote sensors which detect and provide both audible and visual signals for water, CO2 and Fire allowing outlets to do double duty.  Brio's outlets are currently available for pre-order.

2015 can easily be called the Year of the Smart Home; from entrance systems to sleep enhancers, trade shows kicking off the new year featured a multitude of products geared to connecting the functions of home to single devices such as a smart phone or tablet.  Continuing this theme, Nuheat, known for their extensive line of floor heating systems, released the Signature programmable thermostat to complement existing floor systems.  The industry's first WiFi enabled floor heating thermostat, Signature provides for remote access not only to user functions but also to energy usage statistics and both zone and program controls.  More so, Signature is designed to work with any electric floor heating system using a 10K sensor, not just those designed by Nuheat.  Available from Nuheat distributors.
