What if Hermann Rorschach had developed an ink-blot test specifically for interior designers?  It might just have combined the symbolic blotches of his regarded personality test with the traditional motifs of a damask.  Timorous Beasties' designers Paul Simmons and Alistair McAuley have unlocked Rorschach's inner designer in the development of their Rorschach Tile Collection for clé, an international artisan tile e-boutique.  A mix of familiar medieval motif and the iconic blotch-pattern with hand drawing, marbeling, and puddles of ink reverses the unexpected, re-contextualizing the damask as a vehicle for Rorschach's subconscious imagery.  The tiles, hand lithographed on 12"x12" limestone or thassos marble, are both edgy and traditional at the same time.

The quest for contemporary cabinetry needn't be only about flat panel doors and facades devoid of ornament.  The style we Americans often associate with contemporary more aligns with those works produced in the early 20th century by such names as Frank Lloyd Wright and William L. Steele. Rutt HandCrafted Cabinetry, in the introduction of their newest series Prairie, a collaboration with designer Scott A. Stultz, channels the spirit of the works produced by these great architects, blending the traditional recessed panel door with more modern European details and a bespoke drawer pull designed specifically for the collection.  The end result is crisp & clean yet replete with nuance making for a contemporary style that departs from popular European modernism.  Available through select showrooms.

The modern residential bathroom continues in its evolution of the "Less is More" aesthetic where form and function are seen as equals and where quality of finish and detail are just as important as perfecting the functionality of the bathroom's components. Georgia based purveyor of bathroom fixtures MTI continues to embrace these qualities through the expansion of their Boutique Collection with the addition of Integrated Counter Sinks. The sinks + counter top, manufactured from MTI's proprietary Engineered Solid Stone (a mixture of natural ground materials and high-performance eco-resins) are a single piece application with a seamless transition from counter to basin allowing for reduced maintenance and easier cleaning.  Additionally, full customization is available with consumers choosing length, width, deck height, and bowl placement.  More importantly, MTI states their counter-sinks are compatible with most manufacturer's vanities allowing for a custom application in even the most standard of environments.
