Glamping - #DesignLUX Celebrates Camping the Luxury Way
I'll admit, when it comes to a tents and sleeping bags and the "Great Outdoors" I've never been one to willingly jump on board. Over the span of my lifetime I've come to enjoy things like hot showers, high-thread count sheets, and room service. So it should come as no surprise that when the Better Half and I decided to take a week off and head to June Lake, an enclave of just under 700 people located just 20 miles north of Mammoth (the infamous ski town), there was never mention of camping.
Instead, we piloted Maserati's new Ghibli, checked ourselves into the beautiful Heidelberg Inn Resort, a converted 1920's lodge perched just above the sparkling lake waters, and settled in for five days of peace and quiet. Great whiskey was had, martinis were drank, and handmade elk sausages were consumed. It was the perfect blend of "roughing it" (no Starbucks for at least 30 miles) and luxury (the resort boasts the world's largest four-sided fireplace). Glamping. Glamourous Camping.
This week, #DesignLUX celebrates the glamorous art of luxury camping with a special hour devoted to the truly best ways to take in the Great Outdoors. Join us Thursday, October 30th at 1pmPT/4pmET and be ready to share your favorite ways to live the high life while enjoying the best that Mother Nature has to offer.
