New #Luxury Design Product Spotlight: Week of Feb. 9th
Weekly my inbox fills with notice of great new products being introduced to the market. And as much as I'd like to devote space in our quarterly magazine theTwentySIX, there just isn't enough space. The result? Every week check this spot for the newest product introductions. And if you'd like to see your product here... make sure to email me the press release and necessary photos.
Stalaclites, 3-D Printed Shades by Studio David Graas
D'Scoop being here on the West Coast, we've taken notice that our skylines are relatively tame compared to those of big world epicenters like New York City. Certainly, California cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco feature iconic buildings piercing their horizons but none compare to the Art Deco masterpieces. Who doesn't love the Chrysler Building? Capturing the illusion of being natural cave drippings, Stalaclights from Studio David Graas, incorporate the architectural details we've come to love in a dramatic 3-D printed pendant. Hung individually or in groupings, the LED pendants easily become conversation pieces. Starting at $236 each, they do not include a visit to the chiropractor.
Rook Bathroom Collection from Brizo
Time and time again, fashion-centric plumbing brand Brizo, has consistently delivered architecturally beautiful and well-functioning fittings for the design-minded kitchen and bathroom consumer. Their newest collection meant exclusively for the bath, Rook, blends a modern open spout and industrial inspired octagon details with subtle nods to classic chess pieces becoming, at once, both traditionally classic and masculine. As is typical with Brizo collections, Rook is available with both cross or lever handles as well as a variety of fitting types including shower trims, Roman and standard tub fillers, single-handle and widespread lavatory faucets, as well as a full line of complimentary accessories. SmartTouchPlus, TempAssure, and H2OKinetic technologies round out the collection's features. Available in Fall 2015, the collection is available in the newly introduced Brilliance Luxe Nickel & Matte Black split finish as well as Polished Chrome, Brilliance Polished Nickel, Venetian Bronze, and solid Luxe Nickel.
Slat Plates from Spin Ceramics
Incorporating a classic linearity into the modern table is made easier with the introduction of luxury Chinese tabletop brand Spin Ceramics' new to market Slat Plates. Highly precise manufacturing techniques and hand-craftsmanship ensure the meant-to-be-used tableware not only maintains a long, slender shape but is durable enough to withstand normal use. The Slat Plates, available in three sizes (21.5"x3.5", 29"x4.5", & 21.5"x7"), feature a pigment "drop" surface treatment, using string dipped in paint to create an organic line and dot motif - all in either Five Shades of China Blue, a cobalt-oxide based pigment, or Underglaze Red, a copper oxide-based pigment infamous for being sensitive to kiln temperature. Spin Ceramics are available through their SoHo boutique in New York or via their web shop.
Brushed Stainless Modular Under-Stair Wine Cabinet from Vinotemp
For Oneophiles (wine addicts...) the question of storage is always at the forefront when expanding their collections of fermented grapes. And for those with limited space, the answer is never an easy one (nursery or wine room?). A simple wine rack on the counter just won't do, especially if one's collection includes wines which require continued aging. Vinotemp, known worldwide for their innovative and practical wine storage solutions, with their newest introduction - the Modular Under Stairs Wine Cabinet - takes on one of the last frontiers of functional storage - under the stairs. Modular and easy to install, the Under Stairs Wine Cabinet is specified to fit the buyer's new or existing staircase. Encasing patented Epicureanist metal wine racking and a self-contained cooling & humidification system, are insulated glass doors and a customizable Formica exterior in brushed stainless steel.
Diesel Living Collection From Seletti
D'Scoop loves nearly anything that brings a sense of fantastical whimsey to an otherwise staid (read: boring) table setting. Released during the iconic NYNOW tradeshow in New York, the series of industrial inspired collections, Seletti collaborations with fashion label Diesel Living, re-interprets machinery and mechanisms, both literally and in the abstract, into white porcelain, clear glass, and vintage metal. The Machine Collection blends toothed edges and threaded details into white porcelain. Ghost Shell is a punk version of the Victorian glass dome, half chromed with a mirror effect. Rounding out the set are the Transmission Ceramic Candlesticks and the DIY Place Setting, a wrench shaped set of cuttlery. Available beginning Feb. 2015.
