ME by Starck, A Bathroom Fittings Line by Philippe Starck for Duravit
At its heart, the un-embellished, overtly simple design aesthetic that is quintessential Philippe Starck, the ME by Starck Series range of bathroom fittings created by the star designer for Duravit, results in a paring down of the standard bathroom fitting to its essentials, leaving behind an appealing, perfectly balanced style that plays up quality of detail and material. Designed with individualism in mind, ME by Starck includes multiple washbasins, urinals, shower trays, and accessories in a variety of dimensions, all featuring a distinctive slender rim, self contained components, and the ability to function in both residential and commercial environments.
Angles Rug Collection from Jan Kath Carpet Design
Depicted by skilled weavers at a scale of 100 knots per square inch, the hand-made rugs making up the ANGLES Collection from designer Jan Kath are, at once, a testament to the skill and craft of the Katmandu weavers as well as a deeply layered collage of nested cubes, prisms, and rich colors. Highly reminiscent of Duchamp's well known Cubist work Nude Descending a Staircase, ANGLES blends the present with distant memories, the Tibetan Highland Wool and Chinese Silk blend rugs contrasting pointed corners with heavy fading and a water-color like wash of hues which, being handcrafted, means that no two will be alike, each becoming a true work of functional art.
Metro Stainless Steel Tile Collection from Sygma Group
Finding inspiration in the traditional subway tiles that have decorated the underground stations of the Parisian Metró system since the early 1900's, mosaics producer Sygma-Group has launched a striking collection of stainless steel tiles under their Carrelage-Inox brand. Rather than simply providing the effect of gleaming steel via glaze or paint, each tile incorporates a plate of stainless steel further finished in silver, mirror, gold, copper, or black giving the series a longer life an furthered resistance to wear and tear as well as making them suitable for wet use.
Olivera Chaise Longue by Khouri Guzman Bunce Lininger
Solid copper in a warm, rose finish and supple feel of laden green leather elegantly collide in the expertly crafted Olivera Chaise Lounge, introduced at ICFF by New York furniture designer and interiors architect Khouri Guzman Bunce Lininger. Representing the very best design motifs of the Mid-Century Modern movement and paired with high-end luxury metals and textiles, Olivera is a wonderfully tailored piece of furniture, becoming a striking element within a classically inspired grouping or the stand alone star in the ever popular minimalist space.
The Eden Chandelier by Martyn Lawrence Bullard for Daum
For some, British born interior designer to the stars Martyn Lawrence Bullard may be just one of the witty Los Angeles characters from Bravo's Million Dollar Decorator. To French glassmaker Daum, he's the creative impetus behind the Eden Chandelier, the striking pâte de cristal light fixture inspired by the story of Adam & Eve. At once irresistible and breathtaking, Bullard's design finds a scarlet orb, an homage to 'original sin' and the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden, nestled among lush green foliage depicted in Daum's signature glass casting process, all protected by a burnished bronze serpent coiled above, culminating in a design which Bullard describes as "wildly decorative and deeply sexy". The Eden is a limited edition and is available with our without the serpent.
Silver Mylar Wallpaper Collection from Aimée Wilder
Some of wallcoverings designer Aimée Wilder's most popular collections haven taken on a decidedly Studio 56 vibe, this year's ICFF seeing the introduction of a Silver Mylar background. Printed on the highly reflective material, Wilder's iconic patterns and graphics including Love Molecules, Mamma, Star Tiger, and Brain Candy are invigorated with light, providing to any room in which they're installed a refreshing level of energy not to mention a sense that the party has only just begun.
