ART AND FOOTWEAR MEET AT HIP PARIS BOUTIQUE MAISON GALET, ITS PARQUET FLOOR AN INSTALLATION BY ARTIST HENRY KROKATSIS.
If there is something, some great lesson, that must be kept in mind when designing for any brand dedicated to servicing the needs of pedestrians everywhere, it is that there is no other surface viewed more than the floor. When the founders of Galet, a French footwear brand known for luxurious men’s slipper shoes, decided to open their first flagship, they took this lesson to heart, tasking artist Henry Krokatsis with the application of his style of art - the reuse of reclaimed materials - in the creation of a stunning work of art under foot. The finished product is not simply a beauty to behold but also something of a rarity. The artist has produced only one other floor like it - for famed fashion sensation Issey Miyake.
