SS UNITED STATES
THE REBERTH OF A GOLDEN ERA
Before her retirement in 1969, the SS United States captured the transatlantic speed record, transported international royalty in untold numbers, and captivated travelers with her Cold War-era, Pentagon stipulated features. Nearly 47 years later, the world’s fastest transatlantic liner may once again crisscross the North Atlantic under the direction of Crystal Cruises.
Scheduled to be completed by end of 2016, the bespoke travel company set in motion a technical feasibility study with the prospects of re-building the grand ship as a modern-era 800-passenger luxury cruise liner featuring 400 luxurious suites while retaining the original Promenade and Navajo Lounges.
Never fear, there is plenty of time to order a bespoke steamer trunk. Goyard? Louis Vuitton? Pinel & Pinel? Decisions.
